‘Geared up for winter, focus on seamless tourist experience, sustainability’

Srinagar, Dec 20 (KNO): Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), Tariq Hussain on Friday said the administration is committed to preserving Gulmarg’s ecology and ensuring a seamless tourist experience as the region gears up for the peak winter season. The GDA CEO, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) warned that nobody will be allowed to disturb Gulmarg’s ecology. He urged local stakeholders and service providers to regulate their trade practices. “Tourists should be able to enjoy Gulmarg’s natural potential without any disturbances. Our efforts are directed at preserving and maintaining the environment and ecosystem of this world-renowned destination,” he added. Acknowledging Gulmarg’s status as a premier tourist attraction, he said the GDA is working on several fronts to enhance the tourist experience while focusing on development. “We are geared up for winter preparations, including traffic management, road clearance, skiing slopes, cable car operations and accommodations,” he said. Hussain also highlighted the need to address the challenges posed by unorganised service sectors, which, while providing employment, require better regulation to ensure smooth operations. He said maintaining Gulmarg’s hospitality reputation is crucial. We are known for our hospitality globally, and it must be upheld. Tourists should feel welcomed at every step of their journey here,” he said. The officer called for cooperation among departments, stakeholders and tourists, terming it key to a “United Gulmarg”. Addressing concerns about grievances, he assured that the administration is prepared to redress any issues promptly—(KNO)
